Funny failures Heart failure, Signs of heart disease

Just picked up my boxer pup on monday the 1st. He was seen and examined/ first shots and wormed by breeders vet that day before I picked him up. I took him to have health exam by my vet today and he found a mild heart murmur in my little guy. a 1 to 2 stage. They rate them from 1 being mild to 6 being severe.

Boxer puppy with heart murmur. I have just come back from the vet with my 6 week old litter of boxer puppies getting there shots and checked for worms and a check up. I have one male puppy that the vet has dignosed with a class 1 heart murmur. She said that see needs to see him back in 2 weeks to check on it again. That sometimes it fixes itself on it's own and can cause no further complications. The murmur may first appear at 6-8 weeks of age, and a puppy with an innocent heart murmur will usually outgrow it by about 4-5 months of age. This type of murmur is benign. In general, a physiologic or innocent heart murmur will have a low intensity (usually Grade I-II out of VI), and does not cause any symptoms or clinical signs. Heart murmurs sound serious, and often are, but sometimes a heart murmur is classified as an innocent heart murmur. These heart murmurs are not serious and often resolve with time. My 9 week boxer puppy was just diagnosed with a grade 2 heart murmur. My vet says to bring him back in 3 weeks, it may go away. Its common in puppies. He can't guarantee it will or will not go away. I am so upset! We just called the breeder to see if the parents have heart conditions, waiting on a call back. My question is what are his chances- has anyone's puppy been diagnosed with this- did.

Unless heart failure is evident, your dog will be treated as an outpatient. The course of treatment will be determined based on the associated clinical signs. Puppies with low grade murmurs, for example, may require little or no treatment and the murmur may resolve itself within six months. Heart murmurs are fairly common in Boxer puppies, and they often do grow out of them. If they don't, it still may not be a problem - Boxers in general have narrower aortas, which means more 'noise' on auscultation. Diagnosing A Heart Murmur In Dogs. A proper diagnosis is important to control the heart murmur. When you observe the heart murmuring in your dog, you have to make an appointment with a veterinarian. The veterinarian will prescribe the proper diagnosis of the disease. Actually, the veterinarian diagnoses based on the age, weight, and health the dog. Heart Murmurs Often Go Away By Six Months of Age. Although the occurrence is rare, some puppies are born with heart conditions that should be detected and treated as soon as possible to ensure that they lead a healthy life. Dr. Jordan Vitt, a veterinary cardiologist at the University of Illinois Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Urbana, says the three types of congenital heart defects seen most.

Therefore, should a heart murmur, or any heart condition other than a genuine puppy "flow" murmur, be recognized in a Boxer it should be referred through the vet in charge to one of the cardiologists. The breeder and the Breed Council geneticist should be informed of the result. Dependent upon the findings the condition may be treatable. We lost a Boxer to heart issues and when we had Raine at the vet at nearly 9 weeks of age for an exam they heard a murmur but graded it a 2/3. Having just been through a terrible ordeal with Cami and her heart issues our vet was very proactive. We were at the cardiologists office the same day for further investigating. Once a heart murmur is detected, your Boxer dog should be referred to a canine heart specialist. One of the most important aspects will be to determine the severity of the murmur. Testing will be done to determine the exact location of the most intense area of the murmur and then the murmur will be graded on a scale of 0/6 to 6/6 (more ahead) Boxer Hearts by Cecilie Strømstad. Veterinary viewpoint; We have two major heart problems in boxers; Cardiomyopathy, which seems to be more prevalent in USA than in Europe, and Aortic Stenosis(AS) or Sub Aortic Stenosis(SAS) which seems to be more prevalent in Europe.. Cardiomyopathy is a disease of the heart muscle and will, if present, worsen with time. . When this disease was first.

We are waiting to pick up our new boxer puppy ( female ) in a week and the breeder called to tell us the puppy has a level three heart murmur. I have had two boxers, neither had heart issues ( which I know can be an issue ). I have consulted two doctors with differing opinions. Therefore, should a heart murmur, or any heart condition other than a genuine puppy "flow" murmur, be recognised in a Boxer it should be referred through the vet in charge to one of the cardiologists. The breeder and the Breed Council geneticist should be informed of the result. A puppy or young dog with an innocent heart murmur has the same life expectancy as a dog with no heart murmur. Another common cause of low-grade innocent murmurs in dogs is stress. Sometimes a stressed dog may have a murmur while at the vet that is undetectable at home. Therefore, should a heart murmur, or any heart condition other than a genuine puppy "flow" murmur, be recognised in a Boxer it should be referred to one of the cardiologists. The breeder and the Breed Council geneticist should be informed of the result.
